Lens on Life: From Bamako to San Francisco

This exhibition, which grew out of the biennial photography festival hosted in venues throughout Bamako, Mali is comprised of photographs taken all over the African continent. In keeping with the multi-venue presentation in Mali, MoAD is collaborating with a diverse group of Bay Area venues to present this stunning work to the broadest of audiences.  [more]

Porgy and Bess: Cultural and Social Influences - Past and Present (Forum)

A half-day exploration of the cultural and social forces that influenced the work of George and Ira Gershwin. The forum will also examine the cultural intersection of the Jewish and African American communities which informed the opera and contemporary relations between these two communities. Art of Being Tuareg: Sahara Nomads in a Modern World

Bare Witness: Photographs by Gordon Parks

As part of an ongoing series of exhibitions based on the photographic collection of the Los Angeles-based Capital Group, the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University announces a retrospective of the works of the late Gordon Parks.  The exhibition features 73 works chosen specifically by Parks for The Capital Group as examples of his most potent imagery.
