About

Welcome back! We can't wait to see you again! We are excited to invite the community to join us for an admission-free day on Saturday, October 23rd.

Register for tickets to visit the new exhibitions any time between 11AM and 2PM on October 22nd. Tickets are based on availability.

With renovations complete to our lobby, theater, and gallery spaces, the highly anticipated reopening features a line-up of original exhibitions including first-time solo museum exhibitions of work by two of Africa’s most important contemporary artists working on the international stage today—Ghanaian painter Amoako Boafo and Malawi-born, Johannesburg-based artist Billie Zangewa. In addition, a site-specific installation by San Francisco-based artist Sam Vernon in its newly redesigned lobby; the work of San Francisco multimedia artist Sydney Cain as part of its Emerging Artist Program; and a presentation of short films by contemporary African artists curated by Leila Weefur in its newly upgraded theater.

For the health and safety of everyone, advance tickets are required and available in time blocks (11AM - 2PM OR 3PM to 6PM).  Admission is free.
