ONE LOVE, ONE MoAD

Get ready for an exhilarating evening like no other! Join us for the 2023 Afropolitan Ball, Museum of the African Diaspora’s annual fundraising gala and San Francisco’s premier celebration highlighting cultural diversity! We are excited to announce an inspiring lineup of performance art and music that will move you in more ways than one.

Autumn Breon creates art that investigates the visual vocabulary of liberation through a queer Black feminist lens. Through inquiry-based interaction, she invites audiences to participate in the examination of freedom, intersectional identities, and Diasporic memory. Using a variety of media – including installation, performance, and collage – her research processes provide the foundation for reimagining and creating systems that make current oppressive systems obsolete.

The official DJ of the Golden State Warriors, DJ D Sharp brings 18,000 people to their feet during games at the Chase Center. DJ D Sharp has also spun vinyls for Barack Obama, foreign dignitaries, and rocked the halls of Facebook, Fortune 500 Companies, and the hottest venues in the world.

Sabor De Mi Cuba bridges Afro-Cuban and world music to deliver an edgy sound. According to Timba.com Magazine, Sabor De Mi Cuba “is a strong recording, full of elaborate, innovative arrangements, interesting use of chorus, rumba and jazz influenced dance music.

Prepare to be captivated as we come together to uplift Black art and artists locally and globally. Your generosity directly supports the museum’s exhibitions, educational programs, and beloved public programs.

Thank you to our 2023 Afropolitan Ball Co-Chairs: Jill Cowan & Shannon Nash.
