Please join MoAD for the artist’s reception of Rodney Ewing’s new exhibition, Longitude + Latitude, presented as part of the 2018-19 Emerging Artists Program. Exhibitions Associate Elena Gross joins Ewing in conversation about the origins of this exhibition over the course of two artist residencies, last year at the Djerassi Artists Program and earlier this year at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts. Longitude + Latitude explores violence and erasure enacted on varied Black communities—events separated from one another by time and place—through the lens of mnemonic geography and the intersections of body, site, and history.
