About
MoAD’s physical building may be closed due to the mandatory shelter-in-place, but you can still get your fill of art and artists of the African Diaspora. Twice monthly, join MoAD staff members as we visit some of our favorite artists in their studios to see what they’re currently working on and how their work is changing as a result of the quarantine. This is a rare opportunity to hear from artists directly from their studios.
We will follow all talks with an audience Q&A.

Lorenzo Baker is an artist living and working in Los Angeles, California. His art practice explores the formal ways in which language and image construct our understanding of history and contemporary culture.
Working with readymade objects and other recognizable materials, such as historical documents, images, and video, Lorenzo Baker’s art practice is invested in the interplay between expectation and assumption. By disrupting the universal truths found in everyday materials and archetypal language, the artworks produced offer viewers an alternative way of looking.
Lorenzo is a graduate of Dillard University (‘14) and Otis College of Art and Design (‘18). His artwork has been shown in Los Angeles, CA; New Orleans, LA; and Sacramento, CA.
