Welcome Back Love is the new LP from Martin Luther McCoy being released this spring on Rebel Soul Records. January 25th will be an exploration of the process of creation with singer songwriter Martin Luther McCoy who is returning to MoAD and SFJAZZ presents for an intimate and personal look into the songwriting craft as we hear the new works performed live for the first time. Martin will delve into the production process and the various forms his works take on before the final setting is complete. Accompanying him on piano is long term collaborator Paisley Hinton.
Martin Luther McCoy (@martinluthermccoy) performed two season's with SFJAZZ Collective, toured with Philadelphia hip hop legends, The ROOTS and Oakland rap pioneer Too Short. He recently treated audiences with his annual The Funk That Stole Christmas and The Revolution will not be televised: Tribute to Gil Scot Heron at The Black Cat and SF Jazz and remains one of San Francisco's own best kept secrets. Welcome Back Love and welcome back Martin Luther McCoy bringing us the kind of album that touches the mind, body and soul.
A guided tour of MoAD's exhibitions will be held prior to the performance. This tour is restricted to ticket-holders for the 2pm performance. Space is limited, registration is required. You will receive information on how to register for the tour upon purchasing tickets for the performance.
This program will be presented in the Second Floor Gallery where Soleé Darrell: Cosmic Ceremony is on view. Please note that viewing this exhibition will not be available to the general public until after the performance has concluded at 3:15pm on January 25.
