Join MoAD for a reception and artist talk with Simone Bailey, one of four Emerging Artists Program 2018 winners.
The MoAD Salon will be activated by a performance titled "I Will Show You How to Die (So You Can Be Reborn Free)". Afterward, Simone Bailey will be interviewed by MoAD Exhibitions Associate Soleil Summer.
Simone Bailey works with video, performance, sculpture, and photography to explore themes related to violence, agency, and the impulse to grasp the intangible. Her work has been exhibited at Krowswork (Oakland, CA), Galeria Luis Adelantado (Valencia, Spain), Amory Center for the Arts (Pasadena, CA), the Studio Museum in Harlem (New York, NY), and CDA Projects (Istanbul), among other venues. She lives and works in San Francisco.
Soleil Summer has been employed at MoAD since April 2017. Previously, she has worked in administrative roles at Pro Arts Gallery and Betti Ono Gallery in Oakland, CA. She is has also been a part of the Bay Area-based arts collective, Blackmail Collective, since Fall 2016.
