This program takes place at the California Historical Society, located at 678 Mission, across the street from MoAD.

Explore the legacy of the Black Panther Party (BPP) in San Francisco with an in-depth program about its history and legacy as well as how it continues to inspire movements in the Bay Area.

6:00pm – 7:00pm

Engage in a resources hour with diverse organizations that are deeply connected to the history of the Black Panthers as well as protest and other non-profits who are working today to advocate and solve many of the same issues the Black Panthers were fighting in the 1960s and beyond, including: African American Museum and Library, San Francisco Bay View Newspaper, Black Panthers Archive, It's About Time, the 3.9 Collective, and others.

7:00pm – 8:00pm

Listen and participate in a panel discussion about the history and continued impact of the Black Panthers in San Francisco with past Panthers, authors, activists, and archivists, including: Billy Jennings, founder of Black Panther Archive, It's About Time in Sacramento; Judy Juanita, author, and SFSU student during Strikes in 1968, and former Black Panther; Rheema Calloway, The Last 3% Coalition; and moderator James Lance Taylor, USF Professor of African American Studies.

8:00pm – 8:30pm

In small groups, plan action steps to continue to keep the Black Panther history alive and find ways to advocate and engage with contemporary issues effecting people of color in San Francisco.
